ARE New Negative Space Moment of Greatness

A negative space logo was the pre-requisite for our recent branding from Evolve to ARE Creative. We wanted to create an interesting logo with very little to it, something that was so glaringly simple yet kept your attention.

Using negative space in a logo design can be an effective way of using the background colour to show through and convey a part of your message or logo without using graphics. It can be difficult to find a good balance between negative and positive space.

Is This the Best Negative Space Logo Ever?

Can you spot the negative space message in the Fed Ex logo?

Behind the FedEx logo’s simplicity, lays an arrow located in the negative space between the ‘E’ and ‘X’ pointing rightwards. While the arrow in the FedEx logo becomes obvious when it is pointed out, many people don't see it because they are not looking for it.

FedEx have used this negative space as a form of subliminal advertising of the brand, symbolizing forward movement and thinking. Very clever!

Does Your Logo Work?

.... or your logo, your website, brochure, business cards and any of your marketing materials for that matter.

Colour is essential to the corporate face of your business. It can persuade, inspire and touch people, communicate feelings and represent ideas and concepts. Colour is crucial in business - it helps us communicate to others and sell our business.

So before you create a logo or any other piece of marketing make sure you consider the qualities you want your logo to promote - practical, corporate, sophisticated, professional, imaginative, simple and innovative. Selecting the right colors to communicate a personality that accurately represents you and your business is essential in order to succeed.

What does your logo say about the ethos of your business?
